@circusjohnson defended his championship from March Madness by defeating Ian Struiksma, who was trying to beat 3 straight #1 seeds but came up about 5 seconds short. Very impressive work by both players!
@circusjohnson and Ian Struiksma will play for the April Madness championship.
I will win the Pick ‘Em challenge, and @bkjohnson14 will get 2nd. If Ian wins, nobody will get any points and @cland44 will stay in 3rd. If @circusjohnson wins, @mountaingrl will get 10 points (as will @bkjohnson14 and I) to jump into 3rd.
The Final 4 consists of @circusjohnson (#1), me (#1), Ian Struiksma (#2), and Brian D Moore (#4).
In the Pick ‘Em challenge, I’m in the lead, but I’m in an interesting position. Since I decided not to be overconfident, I had myself losing to Tracy Coleman in this round. Matthew Gorter had me winning the tournament, and one of us will win the Pick ‘Em challenge. If I win the tournament or if I lose in the championship to Brian, Matthew wins. If any other scenario happens, I win. So, in 7 out of 8 scenarios, I’ll at least win something…that’s a good reason to pick against myself I guess!
One game from round 3 is not complete due to a mistake last night. I accidentally had Elizabeth Ciccone advancing instead of Melinda Wharton – thanks to Elizabeth and Tracy for pointing it out. I sent out an updated invite for Tracy and Melinda this morning, and it hasn’t been played yet. The winner will face Ian Struiksma to go to the Final Four.
All 4 #2 seeds made the Elite Eight, along with 2 #1 seeds. #4 seed Brian D Moore upset #1 Travis Kruger in the West, and Melinda, who was a #5 seed, will try to knock out the 4th #1.
The seedings have held up remarkably well, with all four #1, #2, and #4 seeds advancing to the Sweet 16. The remaining seeds are #3, #6, #6, and #11. @amybrady62 is the lone double-digit seed to get this far.
Just like in March, I’m leading the Pick ‘Em challenge, but I was caught at the end last time.
The invites for round 1 have been sent. See the bracket here: Bracket
9 players will be competing in the pick ’em challenge.
